In 1993, two individuals that headed up the commissary divisions of two separate corporate conglomerates, Mike Evancho and Gary Smith, designed and organized Oasis Management Systems, Inc. to exclusively serve the correctional market, by focusing solely on the inmate commissary needs of correctional facilities. After heading up the commissary operations of large corporations that operated several different lines of business, the management team realized the importance of a singular focus to this unique market. By designing all phases of the company’s operations strictly on inmate commissary, the clients would receive the highest level of service from all areas of the company. In addition, the company realized early on the importance of coupling this quality service with leading edge technology. From Oasis’ first eighty bed account thirteen years ago (which the company still operates), it has transitioned accounts of all sizes from manual accounting and in house commissary service to leading edge accounting systems and 100% in-stock inventory from remote and on-site service centers.
